Sandwell launches information hub to highlight debt advice

Sandwell Council has launched an online information hub with information to help people struggling with debt.

This resource offering advice and support is available on Sandwell Council’s website at www.sandwell.gov.uk/helpwithdebt  and directs residents to face to face support from Citizens Advice Sandwell & Dudley and online help from other support organisations including Step Change, Money Helper and Christians Against Poverty.

The site also offers support and advice to those with rent or council tax arrears as well as offering a wide range of practical information about budgeting, benefits and employment support via the Resilient Residents webpage.

Councillor Maria Crompton, Sandwell Council’s Deputy Leader and cabinet member for finance and resources said:

“With soaring living costs, spiralling energy costs and the removal of the uplift to Universal Credit many Sandwell residents are really feeling the pinch. This new information hub brings together lots of extremely useful resources that can offer great advice and support and give people information about and  access to benefits and services to which they are entitled. I would urge anyone who is in financial difficulty to access this service or contact one of the charitable organisations to get help. One of the most important things is to acknowledge if there is a problem and address it, simply ignoring it or pretending it doesn’t exist could only make any financial problems much worse in the future.”
