3,000th food parcel dispatched

Sandwell Council’s Leader helped to send our 3,000th food parcel off on its journey to a happy resident.

Councillor Yvonne Davies put on record her ‘huge thanks’ to all council staff – both on the front line and in all the vital support roles behind the scenes, as well as the many volunteers who have come forward to help.

Councillor Davies said: “I want to say thank you to all the staff who are volunteering to be redirected and take on different roles in the areas where we need them most and for the amazing efforts people are making to ensure our residents are safe.

“I am immensely proud of the staff of Sandwell Council and of our voluntary sector, who are doing fantastic work to support everyone in the borough.”

The Council’s food hub is now also able to provide food boxes worth at least £15 to support vulnerable families who cannot access free school meals but are facing food poverty – maybe through loss of income, or awaiting benefits.

The boxes will be available at schools’ discretion, to support families in need.
